Gnosall & District Community First Responders

Gnosall CFRs September 2023 - On Call 124 hours, called out by WMAS 5 times

We are a group of volunteers funded by charitable donation, we do not get paid for our work. We are trained by West Midlands Ambulance Service and respond to emergency calls for medical help in and around the Gnosall area.

We attend 999 calls in our community and provide vital pre-hospital care, assessment and treatment in advance of the arrival of the ambulance - which will always be sent to the incident at the same time. We are not sent in place of the paramedics.

Due to the remote nature of the area and particularly communities surrounding Gnosall, an ambulance and or paramedic can take some time to reach the scene of an emergency. As we are in the community already, we can reach the scene quickly. So when you dial 999 and ask for an ambulance, we are dispatched at the same time but may get there sooner.

Everything we do wouldn't be possible without the extreme generosity of our kind supporters. To find out more about how we are supported and to get involved, visit the Support us page of this website.

Gnosall Community First Responders (CFR) group currently has 7 active volunteer responders. We all come from different walks of life but all have a shared commitment to help people in our community.

Many of us have full time jobs and famillies but we volunteer on a rota system to provide the best possible cover to our community that we can.

We are always looking for new responders, please contact us if you are interested.

We attend most types of 999 calls to our community on behalf of West Midlands Ambulance Service. We respond to emergency calls for medical help within Gnosall and the surrounding areas, including: Adbaston, Knighton, Sutton, Forton, Newport, Norbury, Outwoods, Moreton, Church Eaton, Bradley, Ranton and many more.

We provide vital Pre-hospital care, assessment and treatment in advance of the arrival of an ambulance. An ambulance is always dispatched along with us although in the majority of cases we would arrive first due to our location within the community.

We are also available to join charity and fundraising events for other good causes, contact us for details.

With the funding we raise as a charity we also supply Public Access Defibrillators and the boxes to house them, all we need is a place to fit them and a power supply to keep a small heater online.

Currently there are Defibrillators in the following locations in the village of Gnosall.

  • Grosvenor Center
  • The Boat Inn
  • Gnosall St Lawrence C of E Primary Academy
  • Gnosall Memorial Village Hall
  • Gnosall Sports and Social Club
  • Mincher Lockett Opticians

We have also supplied a Defibrillator at the Red Lion Farm, Haughton.

Our group of volunteers also inspect and maintain all of these important lifesaving pieces of equipment, as well as one installed at Norbury Wharf.

Our CFR Group also provides vital lifesaving training to our local Community.

We provide training on CPR and the correct use of an Automated External Defibrillator.

This is not a training where you can get certificates etc but a familiarisation with how to do CPR and how to correctly gain access to and use a defibrillator to help save a life. This also means that the training is informal, so participants can spend as much or as little time as they feel comfortable taking part in the exercises. Early effective CPR and Defibrilation drastically improves chances of survival.
